Liverpool has an abundance of tourist attractions to offer any tourist from home or abroad. A city thriving on its musical heritage, home to two of the Premiership’s biggest football teams, boasting two magnificent cathedrals and a booming maritime history and culture, Liverpool is definitely in the top cities to visit in the UK. In recent years Liverpool has taken what it already has and made it even better. Since its hugely successful year as European Capital of Culture in 2008, the city has excelled. Now bursting with new shops, exquisite restaurants, modern hotels and wine bars as well as some of the finest museums and galleries outside of London, Liverpool is certainly one to watch.


Upon the mention of Liverpool, The Beatles are on the tip of most peoples tongues. The city is officially coined the World Capital of Pop with the fab four most certainly Liverpool's most notorious claim. You cannot travel to this buzzing city without a visit to Beatles Story at Albert Dock. Why not visit the childhood homes of John Lennon and Sir Paul Mc Cartney on Mendips and 20 Forthlin Road respectively. Trail through each members lives with fascinating memorabilia and insights from friends and family. The Cavern Club is a must visit for a quiet beer and live music. The 02 Academy and Echo Arena are both great places to catch big acts which you could base your trip around.

Culture & Heritage

The Museum of Liverpool, which opened in 2011 is the largest newly built museum in the UK and the countries only museum specifically dedicated to a region. The gallery is filled with themed galleries which depict and document the city focusing on different aspects such as creativity, writer, comedians and musicians. Albert Dock is dotted with museums including the Merseyside Maritime Museum and World Museum Liverpool. Nearby Wirral  Peninsula is home to  the Port Sunlight Museum and Garden Village. There are many day trips which you can take in Liverpool and it is a great way to get your bearings for the remainder of the holiday. The Yellow Duckmarine amphibious tour beginning at Albert Dock is a fun trip, why not take an open top City Sightseeing Double Decker tour, your ticket is valid for 24 hours so hop on and off at your ease. 


Aside from the buzzing city and electric urban feel of Liverpool you might want to escape from the bright lights to the award winning beaches and coastal walks nearby. Visit these as well as pretty parks, botanic gardens and countryside spas, an absolute refreshment from the hustle and bustle of the beautiful city.
Take a short journey to the Wirral Peninsula and walk out to the Hilbre Islands Local Nature Reserve at West Kirby. Also, for those adrenaline junkies West Kirby’s lake can offer you windsurfing, dinghy sailing, waterskiing and sailing all overlooking the Dee.
