With the onset of the recession it became all the rage to put away the brochure for that holiday in a distant land and instead venture down to this island`s own shores. While many have vague memories of a not-so-great childhood holiday at Butlins or a trip to Blackpool to see the theme park and tower, the UK has far more to offer than these acquired tastes!
While admittedly the British summer is not going to get any warmer just because you decided to stay here, parts of England do have climates similar to Northern France such as around the Tor Bay in Devon. The area is even warm enough that a palm tree native to New Zealand grows there. High temperatures might sound in a mid-winter freeze, often foreign holidays, especially those popular destinations further away such as Florida, can become unbearable due to a combination of heat and humidity during the summer months. If you can`t stand the heat, then maybe staying in Britain is the better option after all.
And it doesn`t have to be an outmoded bed and breakfast where the furnishings appear like they are older than you. Many of Britain`s seaside resorts feature hotels and other resorts which match the quality for rooms and service (and are often substantially cheaper) than those in popular European destinations.
There are other advantages to holidaying in Britain. Language barriers, even in resorts popular with British tourists, can mean that your trip is less fulfilling. Leaving kids with resort staff while you take a well earned break can be more stressful if you uncertain if they will be able to communicate effectively with your child. And there are other home comforts too: the European market might have theoretically brought every product to every resort in Europe, but finding your brand of shampoo or a good English breakfast isn`t always so easy. Sometimes it`s the simple pleasures of everyday life in abundance that can make a holiday stress free and memorable rather than a far flung trip.
As for any holiday you take, finding reviews by other holiday makers is an essential part of ensuring you have an enjoyable stay. Many hotels and holiday parks are scrutinised by their former guests across the internet, so there`s no reason you should find yourself short changed if you thoroughly research your destination prior to booking. But how should you judge a resort when there are contradicting user reviews such as found on Seashore Holiday Park reviews? A willingness to use a full name, other reviews on the site and lack of one-sidedness are all features of trustworthy reviews and thus what you should look out for.
