One of the biggest dilemmas when organising your holiday is what to take with you and what to leave behind. Baggage space is always at a premium so knowing how to capsule pack, whilst still having a range of outfits to suit every occasion, is a skill that should be perfected for jetting off into the summer sun, or snowy slopes. This applies to men as well as women, particularly for those that are fashion conscious and tend to pack heavy.
This type of packing means choosing some key pieces that can be mixed and matched to create many different looks, particularly with the addition of clever accessories. The ultimate aim is just to choose 15 adaptable pieces of clothing, tailored around your individual trip. Consider first where you are going, what the temperature is likely to be and the types of activities you are likely to be undertaking and avoid at all costs packing 10 pairs of extra items, "just in case"!
For holidaying in the heat, cool loose trousers are a must, as these can be dressed down for day time, or dressed up for evening and always look great. Choose a neutral colour such as cream or off white and choose your tops around your trousers. Pack also a couple of pairs of loose fitting three quarters trousers or knee lengths and some comfortable, casual yet smart shorts, in a khaki or navy colour.
Two or three loose tops in a variety of colours should be included for men, or strappy tops for ladies; these can be worn individually or layered up for a completely new look. A long sleeve shirt can double as a smart item for night wear or flung loosely over a top, as a casual cover up and make an ideal choice to dress up an outfit for men.
For evenings, ladies include a summer dress and a loose and stylish plain coloured shirt that can be worn on its own, with the shirt or layered up for different effects. A couple of dressy tops chosen to match both the trousers and or the skirt give yet more options. Coupled with different coloured pashminas and interchanging jewellery can completely transform the look. Pashminas can be worn as a wrap, a scarf or tied around your middle to create a make shift skirt over your bathing costume. And take up much less space than bulky sweaters.
Whether you are a man or woman, do not over pack the shoes. For the females choose one stunning high heel pair, some deck shoes and some flat strappy sandals; men should go for comfortable yet stylish deck shoes that cater for all occasions
The capsule wardrobe should be fully interchangeable so take care with your colour choices. Take the time to plan out the different outfits beforehand by carefully considering your choices.
