With skiing becoming a more popular sport and the flights to Europe rising, people are searching for an alternative to European Skiing holidays in the UK. Scotland provides some of the best Ski-resorts (5 skiing resorts in total) and Skiing weather, right here within the UK without the hassle of jumping on-board a plane.
The main and most well-known skiing resort in the Scotland would be the Glenshee Ski Centre with a variety of terrain from easy slopes to the shockingly-steep drops. The resort has a variety of facilities including Car-Parking and a Café. The equipment hire may also come in useful for first-timers or if the experience is merely a ‘one off.’ The centre also provides a variety of activities from classes, to private skiing and races. With 8.30am-5.00pm opening times and very reasonable prices, the Glenshee Ski Centre is the perfect place to enjoy either and adventurous weekend or a relaxing week away.
The location of the resort proves to be successful as leisure centres, swimming pools, badminton court, pubs and good places to eat are all in close proximity. Transport links are often available locally to the skiing centre and many companies such as ‘Snowsport Highland Holidays’ often provide a discount. In this case, this particular company offers 10% off.
A variety of Hotels located nearby provide the perfect accommodation for a skiing trip away. One Inn in very close proximity to the centre would be the Bridge of Cally Hotel. The hotel was previously an 1800’s coaching Inn and retains a large amount of its original features. The hotel has a history of assisting tourists to local attractions- providing transportation links -and helping them organise their holiday.
However, there are a variety of alternatives to Gleshee Ski Centre including Cairngorm, another ski resort located in Scotland. This resort is around the same size as Glenshee and has a similar number of lifts. Many companies provide ‘special offers and packages’ to Cairngorm and provide options of 5 different high-class hotels for accommodation, located nearby.
Many tourists have often commented that the Scotland ski slopes are just as good as, if not, surpass the other smaller European slopes. So, for a similar experience the overall cost for a trip to Scottish ski slopes would be much lower than to other European ones and yet the quality of the skiing holiday is very much the same.
